Veteran Trader Thomas Saal’s Natural Gas Price Outlook – Listen to NGI Hub & Flow

Click here listen to the latest episode of NGI’s Hub & Flow, in which NGI Senior Markets Editor Kevin Dobbs interviews veteran natural gas trader Thomas Saal, Senior Vice President of Energy at StoneX Financial.

Saal looks at inventories, record output, the impact of speculators, mild weather-driven winter demand so far and LNG export activity – the myriad pieces that make up the winter supply-demand puzzle and how they may affect prices during the heating season and beyond.

Saal and Dobbs spoke shortly after the latest Energy Information (EIA) storage report was released on Thursday (Dec. 7). The EIA printed a withdrawal of 117 Bcf for the week ending December 1. Still, inventories remained nearly 7% above the five-year average for this time of year.

November’s record production of more than 106 Bcf/d, combined with mostly favorable weather during the fall, made a big difference. However, the overall picture of natural gas is more complex. Dobbs and Saal dive into the details.

Believing that transparent markets strengthen businesses, economies and communities, NGI – which publishes daily, weekly and monthly natural gas indices at price points across North America – working to ensure transparency in natural gas pricing for America. Part of this effort is the NGI Hub & Flow podcast.
