Stockton-on-Tees company working with Gribben Solar Roofing Ltd, who were commissioned by main contractor McLaughlin & Harvey to install a high quality, durable and energy efficient roofing system capable of providing long term protection.

The new three-storey Northcote Library in Battersea replaces a smaller library on the site from the 1960s and now includes community facilities, a nursery, flats and retail units across two sites.

TaperedPlus designed and supplied a flat roof and insulation system with its innovative new ROCKdeck product, a non-flammable and robust insulation system specifically designed for balconies, patios and areas that require rooftop equipment including solar panels and air conditioning units.

Working closely with Gribben Solar Roofing, their design team created a bespoke system to meet the requirements of a complex project that involved several individual flat roof areas. In addition to solar panels, it also has several eco-friendly living roofs designed to increase biodiversity and reduce and slow stormwater runoff.

The ROCKdeck system combines the non-combustible properties of ROCKWOOL double density insulation with a 12.7mm cover plate to provide long term point load and sustained load capability, tested to BS/EN 1606-2013.

Achieving an A-rated energy rating, the building incorporates the latest carbon reduction technology to help Wandsworth Council meet its climate change targets, with solar roof panels generating electricity, while double glazing and improved insulation reduce energy use.
