Housebuilder is giving new life to a charity’s first aid post

HArtlepool Ambulance Charity has received a £1,500 donation from local housebuilder David Wilson Homes North East, which will be used to provide first aid at community events.

The club’s donation, which comes from David Wilson Homes’ nearby Elwick Gardens development, will be used to create a high-quality shelter that will enable the charity to provide first aid at community events throughout the year. Inside the shelter, the charity will also be using part of the space as a fundraising venue so that any participants or visitors can support its ongoing work.

As part of its work in the local area, the charity Hartlepool Ambulance trains and equips volunteer first aiders, paramedics and paramedics to attend community events and patrol public places, as well as offering first aid training to the local community. Prior to the donation, the charity was running first aid under the gazebo, but needed additional funding to upgrade the space and have a more visible presence at future events.

The donation comes as part of Barratt Developments’ Community Fund, an initiative set up by the housebuilder to support the local communities it builds in and reach those most in need who live near its developments. Each month, Barratt Development donates up to £1,500 to a different registered charity as part of the initiative, with this month being credited to Hartlepool Ambulance Charity.

The work we do is vital to keeping our community safe and healthy, so being able to provide first aid services in a space that is easily accessible and protected from the elements is of the utmost importance. This generosity now means we can put a roof over the heads of the communities we serve and continue our work.”
